The Gujarat Police has registered multiple cases against several unrecognized political parties and their associates for defrauding the government of INR 560 crore through bogus donations.
The Gujarat Police has taken a significant step in curbing financial irregularities by registering multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) against six Gujarat-based unrecognized political parties and their associates. The crime branch filed the FIRs on Friday, following complaints from the Income Tax Department which alleged that the government had suffered losses of INR 560 crore due to bogus donations of nearly INR 1,870 crore received by these parties.
The six political parties named in the FIRs are the Aam Janmat Party, Bharatiya National Janata Dal, Garib Kalyan Party, New India United Party, Satyawadi Rakshak Party, and the Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party.
The FIR against the Bharatiya National Janata Dal names its president Surendrakumar Vishnubhai Gajera, general secretary Vipul Solanki, treasurer Ronaksinh Chavda, and auditor Adil Saiyed among others. The FIR against Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party names the office-bearers Mehul Kumar Kumar Maheshkumar Khatri, Surendrasinh Parshottamdas Tiwari, and Mukundbhai Chandansinh Rathod. In the Garib Kalyan Party case, party president Neeraj Kumar Kshatriya, secretary Dhananjay Singh Rajput, treasurer Dhiraj Kumar Kshatriya, office-bearers Avinash Chandrakant Tiwari and Pradip Singh Parihar, and chartered accountants Kuldeepchandan Parvatsinh Tapariya, Ashokkumar Radheshyam Shah and Pankaj Agarwal have been named.
The police have alleged that these parties received large donations without engaging in any political activity and routed the money back to the donors after deducting a commission, thereby defrauding the government. The donors claimed tax deductions on the basis of making the donations, leading to tax losses for the government.
