The Telangana Deputy CM, Bhatti Vikramarka, has led a tour to Karnataka to discuss the potential for a joint venture between Singareni officials and Hatti Gold Mines in increasing India's domestic gold production.
During his visit to Raichur district, Karnataka, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the potential benefits of combining the technical expertise of both public sector companies for improved gold mining outcomes. The Deputy CM, who also holds the Finance and Energy portfolios, noted Hatti Gold Mines' extensive experience in gold exploration, mining, processing, and refining. He suggested that Singareni’s technical skills in coal and mineral mining could be a valuable addition to this expertise.
Mr. Vikramarka inspected the production unit, mineral processing centre, and electro-winning unit at Hatti Gold Mines. Officials informed him that the current project produces two to four kilograms of gold daily. He also visited the UTI open-cast and underground gold mines, enquiring about mining technology, transport, and worker safety. Singareni CMD Dr Buddha Prakash Jyothi and other senior officials accompanied him on the tour.
The Deputy CM highlighted that gold plays a crucial role in India’s economic security and government companies such as Singareni should take a proactive approach to scientifically explore domestic gold reserves, aiming to reduce import dependence.
