This article provides additional details about an altercation between Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker over the poor quality of a road in Tilak Nagar area of Delhi.
On Sunday, an incident took place between Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker, identified as Saheb. According to ANI's report, the altercation occurred at a site where the Public Works Department invited Saheb to inspect the road due to concerns about its poor quality.
Saheb claimed that after pointing out sections where the road surface was breaking apart, Verma slapped him. The video shared by the Opposition party shows police personnel trying to break up the altercation but being unable to prevent it.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal shared a video of the incident and accused Verma of slapping Saheb for 'exposing corruption in road construction.' The AAP has since called for Verma’s arrest.
In response, Verma claimed that Saheb had allegedly abused his family. He also alleged that Jarnail Singh, the AAP MLA, pressured public works engineers to introduce him to the contractor and arrange a commission for him. Furthermore, Verma accused Jarnail Singh of visiting the site at night after the roadwork was completed to damage the newly laid road and record videos alleging corruption because he had not received a commission.
The AAP worker's allegations of poor road quality and Verma's counter-allegations about abusive behavior and corruption have sparked controversy in Delhi politics.
