The Indian government has launched a new campaign, Special Campaign 6, focusing on cleanliness, record management, e-waste management, space utilisation, and enhancing workplace experience in government offices. The campaign aims to institutionalise cleanliness and optimise available office space.
The Government of India has announced the launch of Special Campaign 6, which will run from 2nd–31st October 2026, with a preparatory phase scheduled for 15th–30th September 2026. This campaign aims to institutionalise cleanliness in government offices and improve various aspects of office management such as disposal of pending references, efficient record management, e-waste management, effective space utilisation, and enhancing workplace experience.
During the preparatory phase, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) actively participated in Special Campaign 5.0, focusing on cleanliness, records management, space optimisation, and disposal of pending references across its offices and institutions. As part of these initiatives, more than 1,836 cleanliness drives were conducted, leading to the disposal of various pending matters.
In addition to cleanliness drives, 1,250 files were reviewed, and 466 files were weeded out during Special Campaign 5.0. Furthermore, 658 e-files were reviewed, with 266 e-files being closed. These actions resulted in freeing approximately 4,000 square feet of office space through file weeding and disposal of scrap, which also generated revenue.
As part of the campaign's focus on record management and e-waste management, MSDE disposed of 3 references from Members of Parliament, 7 Parliament Assurances, 307 Public Grievances, and 27 Public Grievance Appeals. The Ministry is also committed to adhering to the applicable E-Waste Management Rules 2022.
The MSDE has initiated preparatory activities and is coordinating with the nodal officers and stakeholders of its attached, subordinate, and autonomous organisations and field institutions. The nodal officers are being sensitised regarding the key focus areas of the campaign, including cleanliness, disposal of pending references, efficient record management, e-waste management in accordance with the applicable E-Waste Management Rules 2022, space management, and enhancement of workplace experience.
