The State Government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to organise Shastra Poojan ceremonies across the state on Vijayadashmi (Dussehra). These ceremonies symbolise the victory of good over evil, truth over falsehood, strength, courage and duty. Rooted in Indian tradition, they commemorate the worship of weapons by Lord Shri Ram before his victory over Ravana. Observed by the armed forces, police and security personnel, the tradition reflects valour, self-defence and the commitment to national security.
The Chief Minister, Dr. Mohan Yadav, stated that Shastra Poojan symbolises respect for the country’s military strength, security and freedom. In this context, ministers have been designated as chief guests for the ceremonies to be held in various districts.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will perform Shastra Poojan in Indore on October 20. However, in districts where ministers will not attend the ceremonies, the respective District Collectors and Superintendents of Police will perform Shastra Poojan.
Local public representatives have also been invited, and citizens have been encouraged to perform Shastra Poojan at their homes. The respective District Collectors and Superintendents of Police will be responsible for making all necessary arrangements.
