Union Minister for Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav to inaugurate two new railway sections on 24 October 2026, marking the connection of Sidhi district to the rail network for the first time since Independence.
A significant development in the expansion of rail connectivity in Madhya Pradesh's Vindhya region is scheduled for 24 October 2026. The event will see Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurate the Satna–Devendra Nagar (53 km) and Rewa–Churhat (65 km) rail sections, totalling 118 kilometres of railway line. The new Devendra Nagar–Churhat train service will also be flagged off on this occasion.
This historic achievement marks the first connection of Sidhi district to the rail network since Independence. Improved rail connectivity is expected to boost passenger movement and freight transportation, create opportunities for industrial activities, trade, and employment in the region.
The Lalitpur–Singrauli New Rail Line Project, of particular importance to the Vindhya region, will expand the rail network and strengthen connectivity to Panna, Satna, Rewa, Sidhi, and Singrauli upon completion. This will help connect mineral-rich regions with major industrial and transportation hubs across the country.
The Satna–Devendra Nagar Rail Section, developed under this project, will strengthen connectivity to Satna, Nagod, Devendra Nagar and surrounding areas. The Rewa–Churhat Rail Section, 65 kilometres long, will further strengthen rail connectivity between the Rewa and Sidhi regions.
The new train service will provide an additional travel option for local passengers, students, employees and traders, improving connectivity between surrounding areas and supporting activities related to education, trade and employment. The development is expected to give fresh impetus to tourism across the Vindhya region, boosting local trade, hotels and transport services while creating new employment opportunities.
A record budget allocation of ₹15,188 crore has been made for railway development in Madhya Pradesh in the financial year 2026–27, while railway projects worth approximately ₹1,18,379 crore are currently underway in the state.
