The 29th Energy Technology Meet (ETM) commenced today at the ONGC Advanced Training Institute in Goa, under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri and is themed 'Accelerating Energy Innovation: From Research to Commercialisation'. This three-day meet, co-hosted by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), aims to strengthen collaboration across the energy value chain and accelerate the development and commercial adoption of emerging technologies. As part of the Day 1 programme, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri participated in a fireside chat with journalist Palki Sharma Upadhyay discussing key priorities for India’s energy sector. The Minister also visited the exhibition stalls where technology providers, process licensors, engineering firms and energy companies showcased products, technologies and solutions for the downstream hydrocarbon sector.
On Day 1, discussions highlighted key government initiatives aimed at diversifying India’s energy mix and strengthening domestic energy production. These include GOBARdhan, the National Circular Bioenergy Scheme, which has an outlay of Rs. 23,731 crore for FY 2026–27 to FY 2035–36 to scale up compressed biogas production and support the growth of the circular bioeconomy. Complementing these efforts, Samudra Manthan, the National Offshore Exploration Scheme, has an approved outlay of Rs. 84,084 crore up to FY 2030–31 to boost oil and gas exploration in deepwater and ultra-deepwater areas, strengthen domestic resource development and contribute to India’s long-term energy security.
LPG diversification also featured among the key focus areas, particularly in the context of strengthening supply resilience, ensuring fuel availability and maintaining affordability for consumers. The discussions underscored the importance of diversifying supply sources and developing a more resilient energy ecosystem to meet the country’s growing demand.
