Negotiations focus on investment, trade, technology, talent, skill development, and FDI flows between India and Liechtenstein.
The Government of India and the Principality of Liechtenstein engaged in discussions regarding the specifics of a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAAG). Sibi George, Secretary (West) in the External Affairs Ministry, provided details to media personnel in New Delhi. According to Mr. George, the Liechtenstein side views this agreement as a means to offer enhanced predictability and legal certainty for investments by their companies in India. During the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the visiting dignitary, there was a clear emphasis on the '3 Ts' – trade, technology, talent, and exploration of opportunities in cooperation in skill development and vocational education. Mr. George specified that Indian exports to Liechtenstein consist primarily of pharmaceuticals and electrical goods, while imports comprise precision equipment, machinery, and devices. He further mentioned that the cumulative Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows from Liechtenstein amount to $110 million. Several Liechtenstein-based companies, such as Savannah Seeds and Hilti Corporation, already have a presence in India.
