Special awareness programs are being conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ujwa, in Delhi and other rural areas across India.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare is spearheading the 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan–Rabi 2026' campaign nationwide from October 22 to November 30. The initiative aims to disseminate information on latest agricultural technologies and government schemes to farmers through awareness programs in villages.
The primary objective is to promote improved management of rabi crops and increase agricultural productivity via adoption of modern technologies. This initiative is a significant step towards developing agriculture for a developed India and ensuring the prosperity of farmers.
Under the campaign, the concept of 'Lab to Land' is being implemented, with agricultural scientists visiting farmer fields to share cutting-edge scientific techniques, research-based knowledge, and practical information that can enhance agricultural practices and productivity. This approach bridges the gap between agricultural research and its practical application in the field by providing farmers with relevant information and encouraging the adoption of improved farming practices.
In Delhi, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ujwa, is conducting special awareness programs in rural areas from October 22 to November 30. For this purpose, 25 locations have been selected across the South-West, North-West and North districts of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. These programs facilitate direct interaction between farmers and agricultural experts, allowing farmers to access scientific guidance relevant to their agricultural needs.
During an awareness program organized by KVK Ujwa in Qazipur village on 27 October 2026, farmers were sensitized to the importance of conserving soil health, carrying out agricultural operations at the appropriate time for the forthcoming rabi season, using fertilisers in a balanced manner and adopting natural farming practices. KVK scientists provided information on maintaining soil fertility, undertaking essential agricultural operations at the right time, using fertilisers and other agricultural inputs scientifically and according to actual requirements.
Particular emphasis was placed on adopting balanced fertiliser application based on soil health and ensuring the efficient management of agricultural resources. Farmers were encouraged to make informed decisions about the use of inputs to maintain soil productivity while supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
Keeping the upcoming rabi season in view, farmers were given detailed information about improved, high-yielding wheat varieties, appropriate crop management practices and the balanced application of fertilisers. They were also made aware of the importance of regularly monitoring mustard crops, identifying major pests and diseases at an early stage, and adopting appropriate management measures.
These practices are intended to help farmers prevent potential crop damage, protect crop health, and achieve better yields. The scientific guidance provided during the program aimed to help farmers prepare for the season by adopting suitable crop-management measures and using agricultural inputs in accordance with crop requirements.
