The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) celebrates its sixth Foundation Day by launching a national open Ayurveda AI Challenge, signing two strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), introducing an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Facility for Ayurveda, and conducting a capacity-building workshop on entrepreneurship and design thinking.
On October 29, 2026, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), located in New Delhi, celebrated its sixth Foundation Day. The event marked several significant developments aimed at promoting innovation, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, and translating Ayurvedic knowledge into practical solutions, products, and enterprises.
The celebrations included the launch of a national open Ayurveda AI Challenge, organized by Techfest IIT Bombay in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush and AIIA. Leveraging AyurParam, an open-source Ayurveda Large Language Model developed by IIT Bombay, the challenge aims to encourage the development of trustworthy, transparent, safe, and practical AI solutions for Ayurveda.
Two strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the event. The first MoU was with the World Ayurveda Foundation (WAF), which will establish 'AI in Ay – Secretariat for Artificial Intelligence in Ayurveda', a collaborative platform to advance AI-driven research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The second MoU was with Reliance Retail Limited (Pahadi Local) to translate classical Ayurvedic knowledge into commercially viable skincare products through formulation advisory.
A key development was the launch of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Facility for Ayurveda, aimed at promoting awareness of intellectual property protection and helping Ayurveda innovators and entrepreneurs understand the importance of safeguarding their innovations as they progress towards product development and commercialisation.
The celebratory activities also included a capacity-building workshop on branding, pricing strategies, and design thinking for Ayurveda ventures. Ms Jessica of Reliance Retail Limited conducted the masterclass on branding, while Sujith Eranezhath, CEO, AIIA-iCAINE, led the session on pricing strategies and the design-thinking masterclass.
