18-year-old Anahat Singh is set to compete in the Women’s Singles final of the World Junior Squash Championships, aiming to become India's first-ever champion.
Indian squash player Anahat Singh reached the Women’s Singles final of the World Junior Squash Championships after a 3-1 victory over Egypt’s Barb Sameh in the semi-final at Ontario, Canada, this morning. This marks the first time an Indian player has made it to the final of the prestigious junior tournament.
In the quarter-finals on Thursday, Anahat secured her place in the last four by defeating Egypt’s Habiba Rizk 3-1. This victory marked the first time an Indian squash player reached the World Junior Championships semi-finals in two consecutive years. Previously, she had also reached the semi-finals in the 2025 edition, where she won a historic bronze medal after losing to Egypt’s Nadien Elhammamy.
Now, Anahat is just one victory away from becoming India’s first-ever World Junior squash champion. She will face Egypt’s Ruqayya Salem in the title clash today at the same venue, expected to begin around 10:30 PM IST.
The final marks a significant milestone for Anahat and Indian squash on the global stage.
