The rising water levels have necessitated warnings for people living along riverbanks to remain vigilant.
In Gariaband district, a portion of a bridge under construction near Amli village in the Udanti area was washed away due to strong currents. This bridge is being built on the road connecting Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
Rapidly rising water levels in Durg district's Shivnath River and the Mahanadi, which is flowing above the danger level, have resulted in flooding in several riverside villages in Sakti, Arang, and nearby areas. In Nisda village of Arang alone, an SDRF team rescued 42 families trapped in floodwaters and moved them to safer locations.
Additionally, heavy rain has affected normal life in Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker, Dantewada, and Balod districts due to waterlogging on several roads that have disrupted traffic movement.
