The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across 13 districts of Gujarat, leading to school closures and evacuation measures.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather warning, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across widespread parts of Gujarat over the next forty-eight hours. The IMD has specifically issued a red alert for very heavy rainfall in thirteen districts today, including Central and South Gujarat such as Ahmedabad, Anand, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad.
In response to this critical monsoon situation, schools and colleges in several affected districts, including Ahmedabad and Navsari, have been closed today as a precautionary measure. The state government has issued strict instructions to district administrations to ensure the speedy evacuation of residents living in low-lying and flood-prone areas to shelter homes.
Fishermen have also been strictly advised not to venture into the sea till August 1 due to the weather warning. The state administration remains on alert, taking all necessary precautionary measures.
