In his tribute to Udham Singh on his Balidan Diwas, PM Modi quoted a Sanskrit Subhashitam and emphasized the lasting essence of bravery.
On July 31, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the Balidan Diwas of Udham Singh, a renowned revolutionary martyr. During his tribute, he highlighted the enduring nature of valor by quoting a Sanskrit Subhashitam: 'न जातु शौर्यं पुरुषस्य भानुरस्तं गतो भवति कदापि शश्वत्। यथा पुनस्तपति दिवाकरोऽयं तथा पुनर्विक्रमते स वीरः॥'. This verse implies that the sun of valor never sets permanently, just as the sun rises and shines brightly again, so too does a brave man triumph over every adversity with his valor.
In addition to the Sanskrit Subhashitam, PM Modi wrote on X: 'महान क्रांतिकारी शहीद उधम सिंह को उनके बलिदान दिवस पर सादर नमन। हिम्मत और हौसले से भरी उनकी जीवनगाथा देश की हर पीढ़ी को मातृभूमि के स्वाभिमान की रक्षा के लिए प्रेरित करती रहेगी।'.
