A modern cold storage facility established by Meenakshidevi Hi-Tech Agro Industry Pvt. Ltd. in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu has improved post-harvest storage capacity and provided reliable storage infrastructure for agricultural produce. This development was made possible through financial assistance from the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes (VCF-SC) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The establishment of a modern cold storage facility has significantly improved post-harvest storage capacity in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. This development was made possible through financial assistance from the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes (VCF-SC) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The 5,000 MTPA cold storage unit consists of five chambers of 1,000 MT each and has enabled the optimum utilisation of resources while ensuring better quality and longer shelf life of agricultural produce.
The modern cold storage facility plays a crucial role in preserving agricultural produce, improving its quality, and extending its shelf life. As a result, farmers are able to secure remunerative prices for their produce instead of resorting to distress sales.
The financial support from VCF-SC has also generated employment opportunities in rural areas, particularly for people belonging to weaker sections, thereby contributing to inclusive rural development. Meenakshidevi Hi-Tech Agro Industry Pvt. Ltd., through this initiative, has emerged as an important contributor to agricultural infrastructure in Tiruchirappalli.
