The 11th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting, held under India’s chairmanship in Bhopal, aimed to strengthen cultural cooperation among member and partner countries. The meeting focused on promoting cultural industries, utilizing digital platforms, protecting heritage, and safeguarding traditional knowledge.

The 11th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting took place today in Bhopal under India’s BRICS Chairship. The meeting resulted in the adoption of the Bhopal Declaration, which aims to bolster cultural cooperation among BRICS member and partner countries.

In attendance were representatives from fourteen countries, comprising ten BRICS members and four partner countries. During the session, discussions centered around promoting cultural and creative industries and creating more opportunities for artists. The focus also included the utilization of digital platforms to aid artists in reaching broader markets.

Protecting and restoring cultural heritage was another key area of interest. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addressed a press conference, emphasizing the importance of preserving traditional knowledge, languages, folk music, and cultural traditions for future generations. He pointed out that Bhopal provided a practical and forward-looking framework for such cooperation.

Mr. Shekhawat highlighted that special emphasis was given to Madhya Pradesh’s culture and heritage during the meeting. He underscored the need for international collaboration in safeguarding these cultural traditions, asserting that all countries must work together to protect these valuable aspects of their collective heritage.
