PM Narendra Modi declares an ex-gratia of INR 2 lakh for the next of kin of deceased and INR 50,000 for those injured in a mishap that occurred in Birbhum, West Bengal.
On August 17, 2026, the Prime Minister's Office announced via a post on X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared an ex-gratia of INR 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased and INR 50,000 for those injured in a mishap that occurred in Birbhum, West Bengal.
The post also mentioned that this announcement was made following the unfortunate incident in Birbhum.
In addition to this, the Prime Minister's Office shared on their official Twitter handle: 'In the wake of the mishap in Birbhum, West Bengal, PM @narendramodi has announced Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those injured.'
