The Mumbai Port Authority held an interactive session with diplomatic missions, maritime stakeholders and senior officials to discuss international cooperation in areas like cruise tourism, shipbuilding, waterfront infrastructure, and maritime services.
On August 19, 2026, the Mumbai Port Authority hosted an interactive session at the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal. The event brought together Consul Generals, representatives of diplomatic missions, maritime stakeholders, and senior officials to engage in a dialogue focusing on international cooperation in various sectors, including cruise tourism, marina development, shipbuilding, waterfront infrastructure, and maritime services.
The objective was to connect foreign missions and trade representatives with the opportunities being developed around Mumbai’s harbour and Maharashtra’s maritime sector. The session, organized by the Mumbai Port Authority, aimed to foster collaborations that could drive growth in these areas.
Dr. M. Angamuthu, Chairperson of the Mumbai Port Authority, highlighted the evolving role of ports in India’s maritime growth. He emphasized that modern ports are expanding beyond cargo handling into logistics, passenger movement, marine tourism, shipbuilding, port-led development, and global trade cooperation.
In his address, Dr. Angamuthu noted that Mumbai Port has served as one of India’s key maritime gateways for over 150 years. He expressed the intention to extend relationships beyond cargo into sectors like cruise tourism, marina development, shipbuilding, convention infrastructure, and the wider maritime economy.
Four key opportunity areas were discussed during the session. These included the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal, the Viksit Bharat Mumbai Marina, an International Convention Centre along Mumbai’s eastern waterfront, and the National Mega Shipbuilding Cluster in Maharashtra.
