More than three lakh people across all 36 districts of Maharashtra participated in the 'Maha Walkathon' organized by the Soil and Water Conservation Department on Sudhakarrao Naik's birth anniversary, with a focus on building a water-secure Maharashtra.
In an initiative to promote awareness about soil and water conservation, more than three lakh people participated in the 'Maha Walkathon' across all 36 districts of Maharashtra. This event was organized by the Soil and Water Conservation Department on the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister late Sudhakarrao Naik, who had promoted the 'Pani Adva, Pani Jirva' movement. Speaking at the state-level event in Mumbai, Soil and Water Conservation Minister Sanjay Rathod emphasized the importance of public participation, particularly among the youth. The three-kilometre walkathon commenced near Aarey Milk Colony and concluded at Madraswadi along the Coastal Road. Apart from the walkathon, the event featured a water conservation pledge, tree watering, and a song conveying the message of saving soil and water. Several senior government officials, actors Pushkar Shrotri, Rajnish Duggal and Jackie Bhagnani, former cricketer Irfan Pathan were among those present.
