Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announces increased grants, single-click DBT system, and ongoing efforts to ensure better animal care in registered gaushalas.

Under the Chief Minister Jan Vishwas Abhiyan, the Madhya Pradesh Government has outlined its commitment to protecting, conserving, and managing cattle welfare. The government is providing regular grants for over 5.20 lakh cattle housed in 3,212 registered gaushalas across the state.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced an increase in the grant for cow upkeep to ₹40 per cow per day, with a budget provision of ₹620.50 crore set aside for grant distribution during the financial year 2026-27.

To ensure transparency and convenience, the government has introduced a single-click Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. This system facilitates the transfer of grants directly to the bank accounts of gaushalas, ensuring timely payments and good governance.

Since the formation of the government, more than 1,000 new gaushalas have started functioning across the state, providing organised care and management for over 2 lakh cows. The Chief Minister emphasized continuous efforts to ensure better animal care, breed improvement, and effective management of gaushalas, along with cattle protection.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reiterated a complete ban on cow slaughter in Madhya Pradesh and strengthened legal provisions to prevent illegal transportation of cattle. Vehicles used for such activities are liable to be confiscated. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of community participation in cattle protection, organizing Govardhan Puja programmes annually at gaushalas in all districts to raise public awareness about the significance of cattle.
