Rahul Gandhi stages a sit-in protest over the pellet-injured student Sahil Lochav's complaint regarding July 20 youth protest in Delhi. The Cockroach Janta Party claims assault during school inspection in Jaipur.

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has initiated a sit-in protest outside the Delhi deputy commissioner of police’s office, demanding that a first information report be registered on a complaint by Sahil Lochav, a student who was injured by pellet gun fire during a youth protest in New Delhi on July 20. The Congress stated that Lochav submitted his written complaint on August 14; however, the police declined to register an FIR. Further attempts by Lochav to follow up on August 17 were met with ignored emails and calls, according to the party. Gandhi has repeatedly alleged that the police used pellet guns against Lochilaw and other protesters when they marched towards Parliament on July 20.

Separately, the Cockroach Janta Party claimed that it was assaulted by 'goons' sent by the Bharatiya Janata Party while inspecting a government school in Rampura Kanwarpura village near Jaipur. The team had gone to assess the condition of government schools as part of a nationwide drive during their political campaign. Videos shared on social media showed some men hitting the team with sticks and throwing rocks at their vehicle. Abhijeet Dipke, the campaign’s founder, alleged that the police failed to stop the violence despite being informed about the team's visit to the school.

The Union government denied permission for Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to travel to the United States. The Ministry of External Affairs informed the state government that ‘clearance from political angle is denied’, said Reddy’s office.
