Heavy overnight rainfall has caused a flood-like situation across various parts of Agartala, including Chandrapur, Baldakhal, and Aralia in Tripura. The water levels of rivers and canals have risen sharply, inundating several homes, roads, and surrounding areas.
Several residents have been compelled to seek shelter in relief camps, as normal life has been disrupted. The administration has launched rescue operations to evacuate people from waterlogged areas, with West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar overseeing the efforts alongside other administrative officials.
According to the District Magistrate, the administration is closely monitoring the flood situation and has taken all necessary measures. The administration has also been directed to ensure prompt relief and essential assistance to affected people.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha confirmed that several parts of West Tripura district have been inundated due to heavy rainfall. He said the situation is being closely monitored, and district and sub-divisional magistrates have been instructed to take necessary measures to alleviate the flooding.
Residents can expect continued efforts from the administration as they work to mitigate the effects of this flood-like situation.
