A Kolkata-based research organisation's analysis shows that the number of voters removed from Hyderabad’s draft electoral rolls during the special intensive revision is substantial, with deletions exceeding the total votes cast in two constituencies.

According to an analysis done by a Kolkata-based research organisation, the number of voters removed from Hyderabad’s draft electoral rolls during the special intensive revision – 19.4 lakh – was equivalent to 89% of the votes polled in the city in the 2023 Assembly elections. This finding is based on a total of 42 lakh voters listed in January 2023, as reported by The News Minute.

In two Assembly constituencies – Malakpet and Yakutpura – the number of electors deleted was higher than the number of votes polled in the seats in 2023. Sabar Institute, which conducted the analysis, stated that these deletions equalled 112% of the votes polled in Malakpet and 110% in Yakutpura. Both constituencies are represented by the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and recorded the lowest voter turnout in Hyderabad district in the 2023 elections, as reported by The News Minute.

In all 15 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad, the number of electors deleted was higher than the winning margin in the 2023 Assembly elections, according to Sabar Institute.

The analysis also revealed that Muslims accounted for 40.7% of all deletions. However, due to unavailability of religion-wise elector data at the constituency level, the report could not determine whether Muslim voters were deleted at a higher rate than other voters.
