On Thursday morning, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) office in Kolkata was vandalized. TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee accused the supporters of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of carrying out the attack and demanded immediate arrests.

On Thursday morning, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) office located on Camac Street in Kolkata was vandalized. TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee accused the supporters of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of carrying out the attack. Sharing videos of the ransacked office on social media, Banerjee alleged that 'BJP hooligans' armed with weapons had stormed the office at about 4:30 am. The security camera footage shared by Banerjee showed masked men carrying away televisions and air purifiers. One of the videos showed shards of glass, broken chairs, televisions, and other equipment lying on the floor. Banerjee demanded the immediate arrest of persons involved in the attack and an investigation into who planned, organized, and directed this violence. He also urged the Calcutta High Court to take note of the situation and act to uphold the rule of law in West Bengal.

Additionally, Banerjee called for Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s resignation, stating that 'If this is how the Opposition is to be treated in West Bengal, through violence, vandalism and intimidation, then the chief minister has no moral authority to remain in office.' Banerjee also alleged that the Kolkata Police did not respond for nearly two hours despite repeated calls and emails from the party’s workers and lawyers.

The TMC leader further asked whether the West Bengal governor, the Union home minister or the prime minister’s office will take any action in the matter. Banerjee also demanded that an investigation be conducted into previous attacks on TMC offices and its leaders since the BJP came to power in West Bengal on May 4.

On May 30, Banerjee was attacked by a mob with eggs and stones during a visit to Sonarpur. On July 1, vegetables and eggs were thrown at the party office in Krishnanagar while party MP Mahua Moitra was inside.
