In addition to plans for 1,000 RSS-run schools across West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari has also addressed concerns about Aliah University and encouraged nationalistic learning.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari reiterated his plan to open at least 1,000 schools run by the Rashtriy Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) education wing Vidya Bharati in every district, municipality, and panchayat across the state.
During an event marking the 74th anniversary of Vidya Bharati in Kolkata, Adhikari also urged the organization to accelerate the establishment of more schools, particularly in Murshidabad and South 24 Parganas districts due to alleged 'more anti-national activities' taking place there.
Adhikari addressed concerns about Aliah University, a state-managed institution for minority education. He stated that the government would not allow an arrangement where the higher education department would look after all universities while another department would handle Aliah University. The chief minister also questioned why the minority affairs department sent a separate file with names of 27 Muslim students when he had already felicitated 20 students, including Muslims, Jains, and Buddhists.
Adhikari emphasized the importance of 'nationalistic learning' and suggested that Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mookerjee’s slogan of ‘One Nation, One Constitution, One Flag, One Leader’ should be applied to the education department as well.
