Chirag Paswan files a complaint against Swatantra Bharadwaj for allegedly misusing the Union Minister's name and falsely claiming a personal relationship. The incident occurred during protests at Jantar Mantar, where Bharadwaj was arrested.
On Friday, Union Minister Chirag Paswan filed a complaint against Hindutva influencer Swatantra Bharadwaj for allegedly misrepresenting their relationship and falsely citing the minister's name in connection with an assault incident at Jantar Mantar, as reported by ANI. The complaint was based on Bharadwaj's claim that a call from Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra helped him avoid arrest over the alleged assault, despite having 'cracked the skull' of student activist Nishu Aazad’s father Sanjay Kumar.
In the same video, Bharadwaj had claimed: ‘Chirag Paswan is my elder brother…I have everyone’s support.’ This statement, according to The Hindu, was deemed false by Paswan.
On Saturday, Bharadwaj was arrested and remanded to one-day police custody, as reported by The Indian Express. This arrest followed a row that had erupted after the influencer's podcast implicated Paswan in the assault on Kumar.
Paswan and his party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), ‘stand firmly’ with Kumar’s family. In a statement to ANI, Paswan said: ‘Ensuring justice for them is a responsibility that both I and my party fully accept.’ He further added: 'In public life, many people come to meet us and take pictures. But this does not mean that they know us personally or I know them personally.’
On July 23, Kumar was assaulted at Jantar Mantar during demonstrations against alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.
