Andhra Pradesh's Agriculture Minister reports an improvement in the tobacco market during the 2025-26 FCV auctions, with increased buyer competition and fewer no-bid lots.
Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu has declared that the market situation in the ongoing 2025-26 FCV tobacco auctions is improving. The improvement is evident through stronger buyer competition and a decrease in the number of no-bid lots. As of September 4, a total of 86.59 million kilograms of tobacco have been sold across 132 auction days, against an authorized crop size of 142 million kilograms.
The average price so far stands at 209 rupees 83 paise per kilogram, a decrease from last year's average of 248 rupees 86 paise. The Minister attributed this decrease to an excess production that led to a surplus and affected prices.
Despite the surplus, no-bid lots have declined by approximately 11 to 12 percent, and in some centers, they are below two percent. To improve purchases and protect farmers' interests, the government is collaborating with the Tobacco Board and stakeholders.
