The state-level launch of the 9th National Nutrition Month took place in Indore, with a focus on strengthening community participation and promoting locally available food items and traditional recipes.
On Wednesday, the state-level launch of the 9th National Nutrition Month was held in Indore under the theme ‘Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari’ (Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility). The month-long campaign will continue till October 8, with a special focus on community participation. This initiative aims to improve the nutrition and health of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.
Launching the campaign, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Nirmala Bhuria stated that healthy children are the strong foundation of a bright future for both the state and the country. She emphasized the need to transform nutrition from merely a government program into a collective responsibility of society.
Minister Bhuria urged Anganwadi centres to be connected with parents, sarpanches, councillors, public representatives, self-help groups, and social and cultural organizations for active participation.
She also called upon Anganwadi workers and helpers to introduce innovations based on local needs and share successful initiatives through social media for other Anganwadi centres to learn from and adopt.
During Nutrition Month, there will be a focus on promoting locally available food items and traditional recipes. Special emphasis will be placed on creating awareness among pregnant and lactating mothers about nutritious food, hygiene, and childcare, along with prevention of malnutrition.
Minister Bhuria mentioned efforts to increase the availability of Anganwadi buildings, upgrade mini Anganwadis into main Anganwadi centres, and move forward with the process of pending promotions of employees. Along with the health and nutrition of children, the facilities and welfare of Anganwadi workers and helpers are also being given due attention.
MoUs were signed with four organizations—American India Foundation, AIIMS, IPE Global, and Nayi Disha Foundation—for cooperation in child health, nutrition, and early childhood education. The support from these organizations will strengthen efforts to improve child nutrition, health, and activities at Anganwadi centres.
Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Kavita Patidar stressed the need to ensure that the benefits of schemes such as Poshan Tracker, One Stop Centres, and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana reach the maximum number of eligible beneficiaries.
Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat and MP Shri Shankar Lalwani were also present at the programme.
