The Union Minister for Jal Shakti chaired a meeting to evaluate the progress of various projects, programs, and initiatives related to the rejuvenation of the Ganga River. Key discussion points included challenges, work quality, and measures to enhance project pace and effectiveness.

On September 10, 2026, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri C. R. Paatil convened a review meeting to assess the progress of various projects, programs, schemes, and initiatives being executed by the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation. Participants included the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), Central Water Commission (CWC), Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), and State Projects (SPR).

Each organization presented updates on their ongoing projects and activities during the meeting.

The discussions focused on the status of these projects, implementation-related challenges, work quality, and measures to enhance project pace and effectiveness. Emphasizing urgency, the Union Minister directed that any impediments hindering project progress be identified and addressed promptly to ensure timely completion.

To expedite the process, the Minister emphasized the need for streamlining guidelines for Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to make them more effective for on-ground implementation. He encouraged the use of modern technology for hydrological modernization, DPR creation, flood forecasting, and groundwater management.

The Minister also stressed the importance of stronger coordination between the Centre and States to facilitate resolution of pending issues and smooth project execution. He called upon senior officers and heads of the concerned wings and organizations of the department to ensure effective follow-up on the decisions taken during the review and maintain close monitoring of implementation, with a focus on achieving the desired outcomes within stipulated timelines.
