The Central Bureau of Investigation accuses former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, his son Aaditya Thackeray, and six others of a significant role in the conspiracy and subsequent cover-up in the death case of Disha Salian.
In an FIR filed on Sunday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son, MLA Aaditya Thackeray, are named along with six others in the death case of Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. According to IANS, other individuals named in the FIR include actors Dino Morea, Rhea Chakraborty, Sooraj Pancholi, ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, and suspended police officer Sachin Vaze. The police had initially closed the case in 2021, stating no evidence of foul play was found. However, in March 2025, Satish Salian, Disha's father, moved the High Court seeking a CBI probe into her death. In his statement to the High Court, he claimed that his daughter died under suspicious circumstances and alleged a politically driven cover-up to shield 'influential persons'. On September 2, a division bench of the Bombay High Court directed the CBI to register an FIR based on Satish Salian's statement. The court found the police failure to register an FIR for six years raised questions and pointed out 'glaring discrepancies' in the investigation. In the FIR filed by the CBI, they accuse Uddhav Thackeray, the chief minister at the time, and others of playing 'a significant role in the conspiracy and subsequent cover-up'. The agency also calls for an investigation into the alleged destruction or suppression of case papers, fabrication of official records, misuse of public funds, manpower, and police machinery for unlawful purposes, as well as the commission of principal offenses such as criminal conspiracy, subsequent creation and propagation of the false suicide story, and suppression, destruction, or fabrication of evidence. The CBI also stated that no one should be treated as a suspect in the case unless the investigating officer finds enough material to reasonably suspect their involvement.
