The CBI has named several individuals, including former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya Thackeray (MLA), in an FIR related to the death of Disha Salian. The FIR also accuses them of playing a significant role in a conspiracy and subsequent cover-up.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has named former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, his son Aaditya Thackeray (MLA), and several others in an FIR related to the death of Disha Salian. The FIR was filed on Sunday.
The other individuals named include actors Dino Morea, Rhea Chakraborty, Sooraj Pancholi, ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, and suspended police officer Sachin Vaze.
Disha Salian had allegedly died by suicide on June 8, 2020, in Mumbai. The police had closed the case in 2021 and stated that no evidence of foul play was found.
In March 2025, Satish Salian, Disha's father, moved the High Court seeking a CBI probe into her death. He claimed that his daughter died under suspicious circumstances and alleged that there had been a politically driven cover-up to shield 'influential persons'. The court directed the CBI to register an FIR based on Satish Salian's statement on September 2.
In the FIR filed by the CBI, Uddhav Thackeray and others are accused of playing 'a significant role in the conspiracy and subsequent cover-up'. The agency also called for an investigation into the alleged commission of principal offenses such as criminal conspiracy, fabrication of evidence, and misuse of public funds.
Furthermore, the FIR calls for an investigation into the alleged 'commission of the principal offences, criminal conspiracy, subsequent creation and propagation of the false suicide story and suppression, destruction and/or fabrication of evidence'.
