The Indian Railways has sanctioned a project to upgrade the electric traction system from 1×25 kV to 2×25 kV on a 73 Route Kilometre section of South Coast Railway, covering approximately 146 Track Kilometres. The total cost is estimated at ₹142 crore.
The Indian Railways has approved an upgradation project for the electric traction system from 1×25 kV to 2×25 kV on a 73 Route Kilometre stretch of the Savalyapuram-Guntur section belonging to South Coast Railway. This upgrade covers approximately 146 Track Kilometres, strengthening the electric traction infrastructure and enhancing its capacity to support growing railway operations.
The total cost of this project is estimated at ₹142 crore. The upgradation of the electric traction system on the Savalyapuram-Guntur section forms part of HUN Route 8, covering the Vasco-Gadag-Guntakal-Nandyal-Savalyapuram-Guntur-Vijayawada route.
The upgraded traction system will strengthen the power supply infrastructure for electric train operations on the Savalyapuram-Guntur section, enabling Indian Railways to cater to growing traffic requirements more efficiently. This intervention reflects Indian Railways’ continued focus on modernising traction infrastructure, enhancing network capacity and preparing the railway system for future traffic growth.
