Thirty-six sportspersons and three coaches from Manipur are participating in the 20th Asian Games, held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The games run until October 4.
The 36 athletes and coaches represent India's 499-member contingent competing in various sports such as Sepaktakraw, Rowing, Cycling, Fencing, Canoeing & Kayaking, Boxing, Weightlifting, Wushu, Judo, and Hockey. Specifically, the contingent includes 12 participants in Sepaktakraw, one in Rowing, three in Cycling, three in Fencing, six in Canoeing & Kayaking, one in Boxing, three in Weightlifting, three in Wushu, one in Judo, and three in Hockey. The Chief Minister of Manipur, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, congratulated these individuals on their opportunity to represent the country in the Asian Games and encouraged them to compete with confidence, discipline, and determination.
