India has strongly denounced Pakistan's airstrikes in Kunar and Paktika provinces of Afghanistan, stating that such aggression against a sovereign neighbor is detrimental to regional peace and security. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reaffirmed India's steadfast support for Afghanistan, its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, offering condolences for the civilian lives lost in the airstrikes and wishing for speedy recovery of the injured.
On Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir's statement that Pakistan's armed forces remain determined to defeat terrorism, Mr Jaiswal emphasized the need for Pakistan to demonstrate action and firm commitment against cross-border terrorism. He stated that credible action is necessary before the world believes in Pakistan's claims.
In another development, Dr S Jaishankar, the Indian External Affairs Minister, met with his Ukrainian counterpart yesterday to discuss recent developments in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The Minister once again put forth India's point that dialogue and diplomacy is the way forward for peaceful resolution. The spokesperson added that India is in touch with both sides and have told them that India is ready to contribute in any way possible.
Lastly, Mr Jaiswal addressed Pakistan’s ruling on the Indus Water Treaty, stating it was not a ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration as claimed by Pakistan but by an illegally constituted Court. He accused Pakistan of distorting facts and propagating falsehoods.
