Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav personally initiates the demolition of his ancestral home in Abdalpura, Ujjain to facilitate road-widening work for Simhastha 2028. Residents from all communities are participating willingly and removing portions of their homes.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav demonstrated his commitment to city development by personally initiating the demolition of a portion of his ancestral home on Sunday, as part of the ongoing road-widening work being undertaken in Ujjain for Simhastha 2028.
Abdalpura, one of the oldest settlements in Ujjain, is located between the Khajur Wali Masjid and the Jiwajiganj Police Station. Out of the 272 houses situated along the stretch, most belong to Hindu, Muslim, and Bohra families.
The Chief Minister reached Abdalpura at 10 am on Sunday and formally inaugurated the road-widening work after performing a puja. He then personally used a pickaxe to initiate the demolition of his ancestral home to facilitate the road-widening work.
Residents from all communities are willingly joining the road-widening initiative and have come forward to remove portions of their homes themselves, inspiring citizens to participate in Ujjain's development as several roads across the city are being widened. Shri Kadar Bhai, a resident of the area, said road widening would fulfil a long-standing wish of the residents.
Shri Pawan Panchal, a neighbour of the Chief Minister’s ancestral home, said the widening would prove a boon for the area. Wider roads would increase the value of houses and shops, boost commercial activity and make daily commuting easier.
