The Delhi Police has reportedly denied permission for singer Diljit Dosanjh’s concert at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, according to PTI. The concert did not receive clearance due to security concerns as reported by ANI. According to a report, the deputy commissioner of police in South Delhi told ticketing platform BookMyShow that the request was not approved because of threat-related inputs and security requirements during the festive season.
Aam Aadmi Party leader Jarnail Singh has raised questions about the denial of the concert. He asked if the reason being cited for police denying permission for the concert was an ‘excuse’. Singh questioned, 'If security was the concern, why was the issue not addressed with proper planning?'
Dosanjh’s Delhi concert was scheduled to kick off the India leg of his Aura India Tour. The Hindu festival of Diwali will be celebrated on November 8. Dosanjh is scheduled to perform in Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh in November and December.
