Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is continuously working towards expanding milk processing capacity and strengthening the dairy sector. To achieve this goal, the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation is establishing a modern dairy plant at a cost of Rs 255 crore in Ujjain.
Union Cooperation and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah will perform the digital Bhoomi Pujan of this plant from Bhopal on October 3, 2026. This state-of-the-art dairy plant being established in Ujjain will give new momentum to milk processing, value addition, and production of various dairy products in the region.
Of the total project cost, Rs 170 crore will be provided by the state government as a grant, while the remaining Rs 85 crore will be raised by the Milk Union through loan. The project is targeted to be completed within the next two years.
The proposed plant will begin with a milk processing capacity of 3 lakh litres per day. In future, its capacity can be increased to 5 lakh litres per day to accommodate the growing supply of milk in Ujjain and its surroundings.
Production from Packed Milk to Ghee: Various types of dairy products will be produced at the plant with modern processing facilities. It will have a capacity to produce 1.50 lakh litres of packed milk per day, 25,000 litres of curd per day, and 10,000 litres of lassi/buttermilk per day. In addition, a ghee plant with a capacity of 10 metric tonnes per day will also be established.
According to the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation, Shri Jaidev Biswas, this project marks an important step towards expanding the dairy sector in Madhya Pradesh. He further stated that the project will ensure better processing and value addition of milk received from milk producers, thereby increasing the capacity to provide quality dairy products to consumers.
