Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal addresses US Indian Community Foundation in Chicago, discussing India's pursuit of free trade agreements with several countries.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal addressed an event organized by the US Indian Community Foundation in Chicago, where he discussed India's efforts to build a network of free trade relationships. According to Mr. Goyal, this network could potentially cover nearly 75 to 80% of the world’s economies. Over the last four to four-and-a-half years, India has decided to pursue free trade agreements with 31 developed and developing countries, covering economies worth around 60 trillion dollars in GDP. Another six to eight negotiations are currently underway with economies representing around 15 trillion dollars. The expanding trade network is intended to help India integrate more deeply into global supply chains and create greater opportunities for businesses operating within the country.
