The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a ruling on appointments made between 2019 and 2022 for the 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs). The court directed that additional 13% appointments be protected, adjusting them against future recruitment. Candidates from the unreserved category are to be appointed to the 13% of posts kept on hold for recruitments made after 2022 up to the verdict date.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the Madhya Pradesh High Court had delivered an important ruling on appointments made between 2019 and 2022 in connection with the 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs). The court directed that additional 13% appointments be protected and adjusted against future recruitment. For recruitments made after 2022 up to the date of the verdict, candidates from the unreserved category are to be appointed to the 13% of posts that had been kept on hold. The ruling also highlighted shortcomings and errors in the notification implementing the 27% OBC reservation through an ordinance by the previous government. According to Dr. Yadav, the court raised questions about the previous government's intent in implementing the 27% reservation as they had introduced the ordinance in undue haste and had not consulted the National Commission for Backward Classes.
