The Madhya Pradesh High Court has delivered a ruling regarding appointments made between 2019 and 2022 in connection with the 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs). The court's directive protects additional 13% appointments, and candidates from the unreserved category will be appointed to the kept-on-hold posts for recruitments made after 2022 up to the date of the verdict. The ruling also highlights shortcomings in the previous government's implementation of the OBC reservation.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the Madhya Pradesh High Court has delivered an important ruling on appointments made between 2019 and 2022 in connection with the 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs). According to the verdict, the additional 13% appointments made during this period are to be protected and adjusted against future recruitment. For recruitments made after 2022 up to the date of the verdict, candidates from the unreserved category will be appointed to the 13% of posts that had been kept on hold.
The Chief Minister also highlighted shortcomings and errors in the notification implementing 27% OBC reservation through an ordinance by the previous government. The High Court's ruling stated that the previous government had introduced the ordinance in undue haste and had not consulted the National Commission for Backward Classes.
The state government is currently examining the verdict to determine the next course of action.
