The Indian Navy is commissioning the second Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warship, INS Malvan, at Karwar, Karnataka. The vessel, built by Cochin Shipyard under Atma Nirbhar Bharat mission, uses over 80% indigenous equipment and technology.
The Indian Navy will commission INS Malvan, the second of the Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft at Karwar, Karnataka today. This marks another significant step in India’s indigenous naval shipbuilding programme.
According to reports from Akashvani’s correspondent, INS Malvan, built by Cochin Shipyard under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat mission, employs more than 80 percent indigenous equipment and technology. The vessel is armed with RBU 6000 rockets, DRDO torpedoes, and a German-Indian Sonar suite, positioning it to play a prominent role in undersea defence.
The commissioning ceremony will be presided over by Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, in the presence of Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. Senior naval officers, veterans, and other distinguished guests will also attend the event.
