The Indian embassies in both Italy and Albania have issued advisories asking citizens to exercise caution due to ongoing protests and unrest, which have led to clashes between protesters and police in multiple cities.
On Monday, the Indian embassies in Italy and Albania issued advisories advising Indian citizens to exercise caution amidst ongoing unrest. The police in Milan reported clashes with protesters during demonstrations against poor services and rising cost of living on Saturday. Similar unrest was also reported in other Italian cities, including Bologna, Brescia, Bergamo, and Turin, according to the police as quoted by Reuters on Sunday. In Albania, demonstrators have been clashing with riot police for seven consecutive days, demanding better university conditions, an end to corruption, and the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, as reported by BBC on Tuesday. The Indian embassy in Rome urged citizens to avoid crowded areas and protest sites, and closely follow local news about the situation. The Indian diplomatic mission in Tirana also advised citizens to remain vigilant and follow instructions issued by the local authorities, noting that disturbances can spread quickly due to Albania's small size. Indian citizens were asked to avoid unnecessary movement to or in affected areas, particularly in the Tirana city centre, Martyrs of the Nation Boulevard, and Mother Teresa Square. They were also advised to stay away from government buildings and any other locations where tensions are likely to erupt, as stated in the advisory.
