The Lok Sabha faced disruptions throughout the day on Monday, as opposition members protested against various issues. When the House assembled after the second adjournment at 2:00 PM, the Presiding Officer Dilip Saikia appealed for cooperation to ensure smooth functioning of the House, but the pandemonium continued. As a result, the House was adjourned until 11 AM tomorrow. Earlier in the day, Speaker Om Birla attempted to commence the Question Hour, but opposition members raised concerns about the NEET paper leak incident and student protests. Mr Birla emphasized that Question Hour must function strictly according to its rules, as it is a crucial time for members to seek answers from the government. He stated that no member will be allowed to speak on any other matter during the Question Hour. The government has reportedly assured opposition members that it is prepared to hold discussions on the NEET matter. Despite the Speaker's urging for cooperation, protests continued, leading to an adjournment until 12 noon. The Rajya Sabha also experienced disruptions and was adjourned for the day. When the House reassembled after the third adjournment at 3:00 PM, opposition parties continued their protest over the NEET issue. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Congress party of protesting but not seeking discussions or allowing the House to function effectively. Union Minister and Leader of the House Jagat Prakash Nadda criticized the opposition, terming its conduct as highly irresponsible. He alleged that the opposition neither wants a discussion nor is willing to allow the House to function.
