Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today, discussing the challenges posed by heavy rainfall in the state. The Prime Minister pledged all necessary support from the Centre for the relief and rescue operations aimed at safeguarding citizens during the downpour.
The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, also offered full assistance to Gujarat in this regard after speaking with Mr. Patel regarding the same concerns.
Heavy rainfall continues to batter several parts of Gujarat, particularly South Gujarat, causing disruptions to everyday life, submerging towns and villages, and obstructing rail and road transport. Emergency operations are underway in flood-affected districts like Valsad, Surat, and Navsari.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a high-level meeting at the State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar today to review the situation in South Gujarat. During the meeting, he directed the district collectors of rain-affected districts to prioritize rescue and evacuation efforts in flood-prone and low-lying areas.
