The 23rd Commonwealth Games commenced on July 28, 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, featuring teams from 74 nations. India's Olympic medallists Neeraj Chopra, Mirabai Chanu, and Lovlina Borgohain are among the participants. In the women’s 75kg boxing category, Lovlina advanced to the semifinals.

The 23rd Commonwealth Games (CWG) is currently underway in Glasgow, Scotland from July 28 to August 8. The event sees teams from 74 nations participating, including India's Olympic medallists Neeraj Chopra, Mirabai Chanu, and Lovlina Borgohain. Notably, before the official opening ceremony, Indian boxer Lovlina has already opened India's medal tally by moving straight into the women’s 75kg semifinals after receiving a bye.

The CWG 2026 features ten sports, nine fewer than at Birmingham 2022. These sports include athletics, swimming, 3×3 basketball, track cycling, weightlifting, bowls, artistic gymnastics, netball, boxing, and judo. The Indian contingent comprises 125 members, including para-athletes.

With only five athletes in the draw for the women’s 75kg boxing category, three competitors, including Lovlina, advanced straight to the last four, while the remaining two were scheduled to contest the lone quarterfinal match. Lovlina will begin her campaign on July 31 against Taafaki in the semifinals, with a spot in the gold medal bout at stake.

India has won 61 medals at the last Commonwealth Games. However, this year's event presents a different challenge with fewer medal events and a significantly smaller sporting programme.
