The Jhelum River's water level remains elevated in Kashmir Valley, a result of persistent rainfall over the past few days. The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, has urged residents living near river embankments to remain vigilant, avoid panic, and follow official advisories. The Irrigation and Flood Control Department has instructed its employees to stay at their posts and continue monitoring the situation. To minimize risk, people have been advised not to approach river embankments, streams, or other water bodies.
Additionally, the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra remains suspended for the sixth consecutive day due to unfavorable weather conditions. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway is also closed because of landslides and shooting stones at multiple locations. To aid stranded pilgrims, tourists, and passengers, the Northern Railway has operated a special train from Budgam to Katra.
