As of 11 AM local time, bye-elections are underway in three Assembly constituencies: Bankipur in Bihar, Manjalpur in Gujarat, and Datia in Madhya Pradesh. The Election Commission reported that the voter turnout varied significantly among these constituencies. In Bankipur, Patna, the turnout was 11.50%. In Gujarat’s Vadodara, the Manjalpur constituency saw a turnout of 14.27%, and in Datia, Madhya Pradesh, it was recorded at 32.53%.
Polling is progressing peacefully across all 422 polling booths at 164 polling stations in the Bankipur constituency, which was vacated by BJP National President Nitin Naveen following his resignation.
In Gujarat, voting is underway peacefully across 260 polling stations for the Manjalpur Assembly seat. Over 2.19 lakh voters will decide between BJP candidate Satish Patel and Congress candidate Bhikhabhai Rabari. The by-election was necessitated by the death of long-time BJP MLA Yogesh Patel, who had represented the Manjalpur Assembly constituency multiple times.
In Madhya Pradesh, voting for the Datia Assembly by-election commenced at 7 AM, with elaborate arrangements made at all 291 polling stations to ensure a peaceful process. All activities at polling stations are being monitored through webcasting. Over 2.20 lakh voters will cast their ballots in the Datia constituency.
