India's impressive performance in various sports during the 2026 Commonwealth Games has secured fourth place in the overall medal standings. The closing ceremony tonight will mark the formal transfer of hosting rights to Ahmedabad for the centenary 2030 edition, featuring performances by several artists.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games, held in Glasgow, Scotland, is coming to a close tonight with a grand closing ceremony at the Hydro Arena. The event, starting at 1:30 am Indian Standard Time, aims to celebrate eleven days of sporting excellence, friendship, and cultural diversity. During this ceremony, Ahmedabad will officially receive the Commonwealth Games flag and the Host Baton, marking India as the host for the centenary 2030 edition.

India's athletic prowess has been evident throughout the Games, with a record-breaking performance in boxing, historic success in judo, significant milestones in para sports, and multiple medals in athletics. This exceptional display earned India fourth place in the overall medal standings, claiming 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze medals.

The closing ceremony will also feature performances by several artists, including Scottish rock band Simple Minds, BEMZ, Cammy Barnes, Sandi Thom, Australian singer Delta Goodrem who is making her third appearance at a Commonwealth Games ceremony, and Indian celebrities Rashmika Mandanna and Shankar Mahadevan. The event will be broadcast live by Doordarshan for fans.

Moreover, the closing ceremony at the Hydro Arena, which can accommodate up to 13,000 spectators, serves not only as a finale to eleven days of athletic competition but also as a thank you to the numerous volunteers and a presentation of the hosts for the last time. Cultural organizations and community groups will perform during this occasion.
