The Lok Sabha has referred the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for examination and wider consultations.
On Wednesday, the Lok Sabha took a step towards enhancing transparency and accountability in the use of foreign contributions by referring the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). The bill aims to modify the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai moved the bill and outlined that it will be subjected to scrutiny by a committee consisting of members from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
Mr. Rai specified that the committee will comprise 21 members nominated by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and 10 members nominated by the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The committee is expected to submit its report to the House by the end of the first week of the winter session.
