Police intensify patrolling along borders and announce special operation against drug trafficking ahead of India's Independence Day in Tripura.
In a press conference held in Agartala, Inspector General of Police Monchak Ippar announced heightened security arrangements for Tripura's upcoming Independence Day celebrations. The BSF, police, and Tripura State Rifles have intensified patrolling along the state borders to ensure security.
Mr. Ippar pointed out that last year, members of the TNF militant outfit attempted to propagate extremist activities in the region. As a result of increased police vigilance, seven to eight militants were apprehended and grenades and other weapons were recovered.
Furthermore, Mr. Ippar announced a special operation targeting drug trafficking. Enhanced surveillance will be carried out in areas such as Battala, Motor Stand, Nagerjala, and Radhanagar, with the aim of apprehending dealers.
Mr. Ippar also confirmed that all arrangements have been completed for the main Independence Day function at Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala. Security personnel will remain alert even after the event.
